Success Base is not a tutoring service. Success Base is about giving students the tools to succeed through self-regulation rather than focusing on specific subjects. It is about empowering students to develop strategies and interventions to help them manage themselves. We strive to promoting taking a proactive approach (through skill development) rather than a reactive approach (wait until something negative has happened).
We use assessment data as well as taking the time to listen to students and their needs and help them develop a plan using the SICK model (strategies, interventions, coaching, and knowledge). Included with the courses are group sessions that focus on a collaborative model in which students explore various real-world scenarios and use problem-solving skills as part of the learning experience.
The time it takes to see results depends on a variety of factors including levels of engagement and putting strategies, interventions, and knowledge into practice. We use data analysis as one of the tools to determine effectiveness. Some clients may see results after the first coaching session and others may take longer. Everyone is different, so results will vary.
Yes it is. Although the courses are designed to give background knowledge regarding skills and strategy development, it might not be necessary to take the course if the student already has the necessary knowledge and just needs a boost in the right direction or if there is uncertainty about registering for a course. Scheduling of individual success coaching sessions will give priority to those registered with a course.
